Gatwick Airport

Gatwick Airport was an airport just outside of London.

History[[edit] | [edit source]]

On 20 July 1966, the Second Doctor, Polly Wright, Ben Jackson and Jamie McCrimmon encountered Chameleons at Gatwick. Continental Airlines and BUA were airlines that operated at Gatwick. (TV: The Faceless Ones [+]Loading...["The Faceless Ones (TV story)"])

Shortly after bidding farewell to Ben and Polly, the Doctor and Jamie noticed the TARDIS was being stolen on the back of a lorry at Gatwick by those working for Edward Waterfield as part of a ploy to the lure the Doctor to the Daleks in 1866, and the Doctor and Jamie gave chase in order to recover it. (TV: The Evil of the Daleks [+]Loading...["The Evil of the Daleks (TV story)"])

One year later, Gerry Billing, a boy with a psychic link to the TARDIS, saw the Doctor's encounter with the Chameleons in his dreams, due to their timelines being synched. Unaware that his vision had already happened, Gerry got his mother Claire to agree to take him to Gatwick later that day. When Gerry disappeared as he had been taken prisoner by Mark Forester and Kenneth Williams, Claire assumed he had gone to Gatwick on his own and telephoned the airport. She worked her way up the chain of command to the Commandant, but received no answers.

The Commandant was puzzled, as Claire possessed an unusual amount of knowledge about the previous year's events and believed them to be happening in the present, but assumed her to be an attention seeker. Years later, he told the Third Doctor about the phone call. The Doctor, realizing the caller was no attention seeker, wondered if Claire had been attuned to his personal timeline somehow and, looking into the matter, discovered what had happened to Gerry and arranged to meet him in 1968. (PROSE: Imaginary Friends [+]Loading...["Imaginary Friends (novel)"])

In 2012, Jo Jones caught a plane from Gatwick to Aeropuerto Internacional Benito Juárez in Mexico City, but never arrived due to a time loop placed upon her by the Eleventh Doctor. (AUDIO: The Infinite Today [+]Loading...["The Infinite Today (audio story)"])
