The Battle of Satellite Five was one of the many major battles between Humans and Daleks, and part of the aftermath of the Last Great Time War. It took place on the Game Station. The Doctor considered the battle part of the War, and its outcome the "last act of the Time War".
The Battle of the Game Station, known to the Time Lords as the Bad Wolf Incident, (PROSE: Dalek Combat Training Manual) was the confrontation over Earth in 200,100 between the Fourth Great and Bountiful Human Empire and the remnants of the Dalek Empire in the aftermath of the Last Great Time War. It took place on the Game Station. The Tenth Doctor later described its outcome the "final act of the Time War" itself. (TV: Utopia)

The Battle of Satellite Five was started because the Dalek Emperor and his flagship survived the destruction of the Dalek Empire in the main part of the Last Great Time War, and fell through time to the year 199,909 and began influencing the Fourth Great and Bountiful Human Empire as a cover for his plans, using the Jagrafess and the Editor as puppet leaders in his plans. The Time War-era Time Lords watched a projection of this incident, teaching them that the already-known to be dangerous Dalek Emperor could survive the War. In the year 200,100, when the Dalek plan was nearing completion, the Daleks were discovered by the Doctor, who they needed for part of their plan. They took Rose Tyler and threatened to kill her unless the Doctor let Earth fall to the Daleks, however the Doctor refused, and with Jack Harkness travelled to the Emperor's flagship in the Doctor's TARDIS as the fleet advanced upon Earth. (DW: Bad Wolf)

The Battle
Conflict
After realising that the Dalek Emperor was still in existance and that the new army of Kaled mutants were half-Human and forced to worship the Emperor, the Doctor, Rose and Jack travelled back to the Game Station and protected the top five levels with a force field provided by the tribophysical waveform macro-kinetic extrapolator, and sent Jack down to the lower levels to recruit Humans to fight against the oncomng army. However, thanks to Rodrick, a Human, most of the people refused, believing that the Daleks were mere myth.
Beginnings
In the year 200,100, the Controller of the Game Station used an advanced transmat beam to penetrate the TARDIS carrying the Ninth Doctor, Rose Tyler and Captain Jack Harkness, bringing both the craft and its occupants to the Game Station. As the Doctor recalled, they had just left Kyoto in 1336, having encountered the Volsci at the Battle of Minatogawa, and had visited Raxacoricofallapatorius before that. (TV: Bad Wolf, COMIC: Return of the Volsci)

The Doctor built a Delta Wave to fry the Daleks' brainstems and sent Rose back to 2006, as the recruited Humans shot bastic bullets into the casings of the Daleks which had arrived at the Game Station, however only managing to blind one before all humans but Jack were killed. The Anne Droid successfully destroyed three Daleks with its disintegration beam before she too was destroyed. The Dalek fleet advanced upon Earth, using their weapons to bomb the continents out of existence. It is not known whether the Emperor was trying to recreate the planet Skaro on Earth, or just killing all the Humans on the planet.
The TARDIS was placed in Archive Six, whilst the three travellers were separately placed in the station's game shows to hide them, leading the Doctor to discover that the Dalek plan was nearing completion. They took Rose and threatened to kill her unless the Doctor let Earth fall to the Daleks. He refused. Eventually all the Humans on the Station were killed, including Jack. However, Rose returned from the 21st century as the omnipotent Bad Wolf, dividing the Daleks and their fleet into atoms before turning them to dust, and resurrected Jack. (DW: The Parting of the Ways) So far, it is unknown if Rose returned the continents to their original shape, or if any other humans on the Game Station were resurrected.

Knowing the Dalek Emperor lived and the new army of Kaled mutants were half-humans who worshipped the Emperor, the Doctor, Rose and Jack returned to the Game Station. They protected the top five levels with a force field generated by the tribophysical waveform macro-kinetic extrapolator. Jack went to the lower levels to recruit humans to fight the oncoming army. Thanks to Rodrick, most of the people refused, believing the Daleks a myth.

Aftermath
The Doctor built a delta wave to fry the Daleks' brainstems and sent Rose back to 2006, while the recruited humans mounted a defence. Using barricades and highly concentrated fire, they shot bastic bullets at the invading Daleks. They blinded one before all humans but Jack were killed. They also attempted to use internal defences, including lasers, but the Daleks managed to disable them. The Anne Droid stopped three Daleks with its transmat beam before it too was destroyed. The Dalek fleet advanced upon Earth, bombing continents out of existence.
The Doctor had to absorb the Time Vortex energy which had made Rose into the Bad Wolf, causing him to regenerate into his tenth incarnation. (DW: The Parting of the Ways, Children in Need Special)

"Battle of the Game Station" is a title based upon conjecture.

Check the behind the scenes section, the revision history and discussion page for additional comments on this article's title.

History[[edit] | [edit source]]

A day to come[[edit] | [edit source]]

The Time War-era Time Lords watched a projection of this incident, teaching them that the already-known to be dangerous Dalek Emperor could survive the War. Nonetheless, they were relieved to see the Emperor would play a long game for centuries, rather that launching a new campaign right after escaping the Time War. The Time Lords also kept an index file on Rose under the name "Bad Wolf." (PROSE: Dalek Combat Training Manual)

Origins[[edit] | [edit source]]

The Dalek Emperor survived the destruction of the Dalek Empire in the Last Great Time War and fell through time (TV: The Parting of the Ways) and the Void, (PROSE: The Whoniverse) to the year 199,909. He influenced the Fourth Great and Bountiful Human Empire as a cover for his plans and used the Jagrafess and the Editor as puppets. He rebuilt the Dalek race from human cells taken by "disintegration beams" to create an army of nearly half a million Daleks. He built two hundred flying saucers for the imperial fleet at the edge of the solar system. (TV: The Long Game, Bad Wolf / The Parting of the Ways) By another account, the army stood at a million. (PROSE: I Am a Dalek)

Conflict[[edit] | [edit source]]

Beginnings[[edit] | [edit source]]

In the year 200,100, the Controller of the Game Station used an advanced transmat beam to penetrate the TARDIS carrying the Ninth Doctor, Rose Tyler and Captain Jack Harkness, bringing both the craft and its occupants to the Game Station. As the Doctor recalled, they had just left Kyoto in 1336, having encountered the Volsci at the Battle of Minatogawa, and had visited Raxacoricofallapatorius before that. (TV: Bad Wolf, COMIC: Return of the Volsci)

He refused. (TV: Bad Wolf) He and Captain Jack Harkness travelled in the TARDIS to the Emperor's flagship as the fleet advanced upon Earth. (TV: The Parting of the Ways)

The battle[[edit] | [edit source]]

Knowing the Dalek Emperor lived and the new army of Kaled mutants were half-humans who worshipped the Emperor, the Doctor, Rose and Jack returned to the Game Station. They protected the top five levels with a force field generated by the tribophysical waveform macro-kinetic extrapolator. Jack went to the lower levels to recruit humans to fight the oncoming army. Thanks to Rodrick, most of the people refused, believing the Daleks a myth.

All the humans on the station were dead, including Jack. However, Rose returned from the 21st century as the near-omnipotent Bad Wolf, dividing the Daleks and their fleet into atoms, turning them to dust, and resurrecting Jack. (TV: The Parting of the Ways)

Aftermath[[edit] | [edit source]]

The Doctor absorbed the Time Vortex energy which had made Rose into the Bad Wolf, forcing him to regenerate into his tenth incarnation. (TV: The Parting of the Ways) Rose became aware of her actions as the Bad Wolf. When facing a lone Dalek at Crediton Vale, Rose recalled the incident only for the Doctor to deny her implicit suggestion, warning that another attempt could destroy the universe. (PROSE: I Am a Dalek) As Rose left Mickey and Jackie, not contacting them after she left in the TARDIS, Mickey believed that Rose had been killed but Jackie thought she was alive. Mickey wrote about this on whoisdoctorwho.co.uk in late 2006. (PROSE: Mars)

Though the Doctor was optimistic that mankind would be left to recover, after 191 years of repression by the Daleks, (TV: The Parting of the Ways) in the direct aftermath they dealt with radiation and starvation. Journalism started up again. (AUDIO: The Year After I Died)

Jack was left behind by the Doctor. Making it to the ravaged Earth, Jack was responsible for overthrowing the Hope Foundation, composed of a rich elite of humans in space that sought to exploit the survivors of the Dalek invasion. When Trear Station, formerly the Game Station, crashed to Earth, Jack was confident that humanity would ultimately rebuild itself as he saw that an abundance of resources was salvaged from the grounded station. (AUDIO: The Year After I Died)

Jack eventually used his vortex manipulator to try to return to the 21st century to wait for the Doctor. The manipulator deposited him in 1869 and broke down, stranding him. In addition, his resurrection by Rose had left him immortal. (TV: Utopia)

The invasion was among the events recounted in The Dalek Conquests, which placed it as the end of known Dalek history. However, the narrator did ponder openly as to whether a species with access to time travel could ever truly go extinct. (AUDIO: The Dalek Conquests)

Indeed, the Doctor and Rose later discovered the Daleks had survived through the Cult of Skaro, who had escaped to the Void. Speaking to them, Rose revealed that the Emperor survived the Time War, only to gloat as she recalled that she killed him, much to the fury of Dalek Sec. (TV: Doomsday) The Cult's activities began a chain of events which ultimately led to the establishment of a New Dalek Paradigm. (TV: Journey's End, Victory of the Daleks, PROSE: Dalek: The Astounding Untold History of the Greatest Enemies of the Universe)

Using the human dating system, the Time Lords' also placed this 2001st century event at the end of known Dalek activity in linear history, following the Siege of Trenzalore and the Twelfth Doctor's encounter with Rusty before his regeneration. All Dalek activity was placed within the 1st Segment of Time; (PROSE: Dalek Combat Training Manual) indeed, the inhabitants of the Ark circa 10,000,000 associated the Daleks with the 1st Segment of Time. (TV: "The Steel Sky") However, the Doctor referred to this encounter as "billions of years ago" from the Good Dalek Incident, and Rusty was by this point aware of the Testimony Foundation, established in 5,000,000,012. (TV: Twice Upon a Time)
