The Great Escapes was the tenth short story in the Short Trips anthology Short Trips: Defining Patterns. It was written by Simon Guerrier. It featured Lucie Miller.

Summary[[edit] | [edit source]]

Lucie is in prison with Albumen and another Illixtrian on the Illixtrians' planet. Lucie has seen the Doctor get shot by the machine guards, but she refuses to believe he is dead and instead plots the trio's escape.

The first time the trio try to escape, Albumen is killed by the machine guards. The other Illixtrian and Lucie try without success to escape several more times. They aren't killed because they are scheduled for public execution.

As Lucie and the Illixtrian are led to their execution, Lucie has started to come to terms with the Doctor being dead...
