Lant Land was the sixth short story in the Short Trips anthology Short Trips: Life Science. It was written by Jonathan Morris. It featured the Fifth Doctor, Tegan and Turlough.

Plot[[edit] | [edit source]]

The TARDIS lands in an apartment in a tower block but its instruments indicate that it is in the middle of nowhere. The Doctor, Tegan and Turlough are welcomed by Simon and Joanne, an uncannily attractive couple who were expecting visitors and who criticise Tegan and Turlough's names as unbelievable, suggesting that they change them to Yvonne and Derek.

Simon and Joanne show the trio Lant Land, a simulation of ordinary life which viewers eventually entered by downloaded themselves into the Lants. As the television is without a plug and the books are blank, Turlough deduces that they have arrived inside the simulation, but the Doctor corrects him. Some of the Lants wanted revenge for their bodies being stolen and put themselves into the real people. Everything happening in the apartment has been watched by the real people living in Lant Land, to whom the Doctor pilots the TARDIS.
