The Dogs of War was the seventh short story in the Short Trips anthology Short Trips: Destination Prague. It was written by Brian Keene. It featured the Fourth Doctor, Leela and K9 Mark I.

Summary[[edit] | [edit source]]

Ben Gay-ul is being chased by a trio of Canines. They are sure they will catch him, but when he hides, they run past him.

Meanwhile, the Doctor and Leela have been captured by Canines and imprisoned in a kennel along with the human slaves. The Doctor explains that the Canines are the descendants of intelligent dogs bred by the Globe Corporation to use as law enforcement. They have evolved and have enslaved the humans of Prague. When Leela wonders how they will escape, the Doctor reminds her that they have a dog of their own.

Ben has been hiding near the TARDIS, out of which K9 emerges. When K9 mentions the Doctor, Ben reveals that he has heard of the Doctor and knows where he is. K9 and Ben storm the kennel while the Alpha Male is interrogating the Doctor. With Leela's help, the guards are disarmed and the Alpha Male is ordered to free the slaves.

The Doctor encourages Ben and his father Day-vid Kit-sun to rebel against the Canines.
