History[[edit] | [edit source]]

In one meeting of the War Council in 2003 (COMIC: The Dalek Tapes) or thousands of years prior to the 2060s, War Minister Zolfian claimed that the stash of neutron bombs they had built up was finally sufficent to totally destroy the Thals. However, Drenz, the pacifist ruler of the Daleks, burst into the meeting and ordered that the warring stop, lest the Daleks, meddling with forces they did not understand, accidentally destroy the planet; Zolfian reacted by murdering Drenz right there and then, declaring him unworthy of leading their proud race.

As the war effort began, Zolfian oversaw the creation by the scientist Yarvelling of one-person mobile minitans, the Dalek War Machines. For two weeks, the weapons factories at Darren were under full pressure. However, a meteorite storm caused fires which spread to the buildings storing the neutron bombs. This made the bombs detonate prematurely, annihilating the continents of Darren and Dalazar. (COMIC: Genesis of Evil) After this, the few surviving Thals relocated to the continent of Davius. (PROSE: The Secret Lives of Monsters)

Meanwhile, Zolfian and Yarvelling took refuge in the War Council chamber, turned into a fallout shelter by Yarvelling's intelligence. For two years, nothing stirred on Skaro as the radioactive dust from the bombs settled on the land and the oceans or drifted into the upper atmosphere. At this time, the Zolfian and Yarvelling left the War Council chamber in Darren, incorrectly believing the radioactivity to have sufficently subsided. They made their way to Dalazar to distance themselves from the centre of the blast's effects, unsucessfully searching for survivors as they did so. Yarvelling also found evidence during their journey that the Daleks had undergone some sort of mutation, a hypothesis which was confirmed when he and Zolfian encountered the first machine Dalek. (COMIC: Genesis of Evil)
