A Martian cruiser over the North Pole. (TV: Cold War)

Martian cruiser, also known as Martian battlecruiser, was a classification of warship spacecraft used by the Ice Warriors.

Characteristics[[edit] | [edit source]]

Circular, the Martian cruiser was roundly shaped more like a bowl than a saucer with a silvery-white metal hull which was lit from within by the palest of blue lights. Three nacelles protruded from the vessel at precisely 120 degrees around its circumference. The cruiser was equipped with a main engine and multiple thrusters and manoeuvring jets, all of which gave off soft violet glows. In addition, it was equipped with shields, life-support, sub-space communications, short-range weapons, sub-light engines, an impulse cannon with impulse lasers, defensive sonic cannons, missiles, a hyperdrive with a hyper-drive core, (PROSE: The Jeopardy of Solar Proximity) tractor beam and teleport. (TV: Cold War)

Cruisers were controlled from a command deck. Equipped with a viewscreen and alarms, the command deck was the station of the ship's commander, senior Deck Officer, communications warrior and Scientific Officer. Ship's weapons were operated by a designated weapons crew. (PROSE: The Jeopardy of Solar Proximity)

History[[edit] | [edit source]]

The Saavid was a cruiser of the Nix-Thassis fleet. (PROSE: The Jeopardy of Solar Proximity)

In 1983, a Martian cruiser appeared above the North Pole to rescue Skaldak from the Soviet Firebird. Its tractor beam was used to pull the submarine from the ocean to break through the ice of the North Pole before teleporting Skaldak off. (TV: Cold War)

At least Martian cruiser was present at the Siege of Trenzalore. (TV: The Time of the Doctor)
