Wulf was the second story in The New Adventures of Bernice Summerfield audio anthology Blood & Steel, produced by Big Finish Productions. It was written by Aaron Lamont and featured Lisa Bowerman as Bernice Summerfield and David Warner as the Unbound Doctor.
Publisher's summary[[edit] | [edit source]]
A young man returns home - will he save his village or will it save him?
Plot[[edit] | [edit source]]
The cyber-converted Wulf returns to his village and stands in the rain until Konrad, his father, takes him to stay in a barn. He does not remain there, however, and Konrad eventually takes him into the house despite Ingrid, Wulf's mother, initially not wanting him inside. After a farmer witnesses Wulf's newfound strength, he is put to work with tasks such as moving heavy tree trunks, helping Konrad in the field and running a thresher, impressing the villagers and earning their appreciation. Konrad and Ingrid invite Heike, Wulf's former girlfriend, to dinner, but she neglects to attend.
Benny arrives at the village, continuing her search for Cybermen, and warns the villagers that Wulf will one day become a danger to them, which he denies. Although Ingrid refuses to let her speak, Konrad allows her to explain Wulf's conversion and the threat that he could pose. Opinions on Wulf sour when he injures Marius, a soldier and Heike's new boyfriend, and she returns him home with a gunshot wound and a further warning that a mob will likely form against him. After Konrad intimidates Marius, the barn catches fire and Wulf pulls it down to prevent it spreading and destroying the harvest.
Benny stops Wulf from killing Marius, whom he blames for the fire, by redirecting his attention to Heike's distress and he orders Marius to leave the village, something that the other villagers applaud despite his display of violence. She convinces him to express his pain, which she worries are the last that he will have, and she regroups with the Doctor as Wulf is hailed a hero. They leave in the TARDIS without saying goodbye, wondering what will happen to Wulf.
