Finicia Portillon was a daughter of Squire Claude Portillon of Tranchard's Fell and the village healer Agnes Bates. She had a twin brother Lucern.
To conceal their illegitimacy, the squire announced that they were born by his wife, who died giving birth. (In reality she died some time before of pox.) Even the children themselves did not know who their real mother was.
When they were seventeen, Finicia and her brother chanced upon two Varaxils at the Morris's barn. Afraid of being discovered, the Varaxils killed the twins using the WitchStar, which sucked all their life force from them, leaving two unidentifiable grey husks. The Veraxils assimilated their memories in the process and later assumed their appearance to operate freely in the village. (AUDIO: The Witch from the Well)
