Sir Robert MacLeish (1837-1879 (PROSE: Welcome to Torchwood House [+]Loading...["Welcome to Torchwood House (feature)"])) was the owner of Torchwood House.
Biography[[edit] | [edit source]]
Robert was born in 1837 (PROSE: Welcome to Torchwood House [+]Loading...["Welcome to Torchwood House (feature)"]) to George MacLeish. Upon his father's death, Sir Robert inherited Torchwood House.
In 1879, the Brethren seized Torchwood House by force, and Sir Robert was unable to stop them taking over the house and setting a trap for Queen Victoria. In order to coerce him into assisting them, the Brethren held his wife, Lady Isobel, and the entire household captive. When the Queen arrived, he subtly attempted to tell her something was up and to ward her away, though was unsuccessful. He also met the Tenth Doctor and Rose Tyler. During their visit, Sir Robert presented Torchwood House's observatory. He never understood the work his father and Prince Albert, the Queen's late consort, had undertaken in the observatory, remarking that it had become an obsession for his father.
He ate dinner with the Doctor, Queen Victoria and Captain Reynolds, where he told them of the Werewolf stories.
After the Host escaped, the Doctor, Rose, the Queen and Sir Robert eventually reached the observatory, the Doctor needing time to activate the light chamber. Hoping to buy some time, Sir Robert decided to sacrifice himself, believing it to be the only way to salvage his name and reputation. Declaring that his wife would remember him with honour, he let himself be torn apart and devoured alive, allowing the Tenth Doctor the time he needed to destroy the Haemovariform with the observatory's light chamber.
