Alan Bush was the father of Melanie Bush.
Biography[[edit] | [edit source]]
Alan grew up in Small Marshes near Hastings, next-door to Bob Lines, whom he befriended at school. His mother and father were very rich (PROSE: Business Unusual [+]Loading...["Business Unusual (novel)"]) and he had a "ghastly" sister. He went to Durham University where he met and married Christine Hallam. He did a postgraduate degree in accountancy (PROSE: Spiral Scratch [+]Loading...["Spiral Scratch (novel)"]) and became a wealthy accountant.
The Bushes did not have children until they were in their late thirties. According to one account, they had only one daughter, named Melanie. (PROSE: Business Unusual [+]Loading...["Business Unusual (novel)"]) According to another, they had an elder daughter named Anabel who died after falling down the stairs when she was three in an accident caused by Mel. After her death, the Bushes moved from Croxdale to Pease Pottage. (PROSE: Spiral Scratch [+]Loading...["Spiral Scratch (novel)"])
Alan would sarcastically tell Mel that she was sitting on a chair when she would fidget and complain about sitting on something. (AUDIO: The Devil's Footprints [+]Loading...["The Devil's Footprints (audio story)"])
When the Sixth Doctor visited the Bushes to begin his adventures with Mel, Alan helped him investigate and thwart SenéNet. (PROSE: Business Unusual [+]Loading...["Business Unusual (novel)"]) He was apparently on a cruise with Christine when the Sixth Doctor brought Mel back after his trial, in the pocket of cauterised time created by "Stapleton Petherbridge". (AUDIO: The Wrong Doctors [+]Loading...["The Wrong Doctors (audio story)"])
Both Alan and Christine had died by 2023. (TV: The Giggle [+]Loading...["The Giggle (TV story)"])
