Light the Flame was the first story in the audio anthology Forged in Fire, produced by Big Finish Productions. It was written by Matt Fitton and introduced Jonathon Carley as the War Doctor and Veronica Roberts as Ohila and featured Chris Jarman as Cardinal Rasmus and Adèle Anderson as Commodore Tamasan.
This was the first release of the resumed The War Doctor series since John Hurt's death in January 2017.

The Sisterhood of Karn have a guest, recovering from his traumatic regeneration. To do what is asked of him, the Doctor has rejected his name and his code.
The Time Lords have plans for him and for Karn. Is he ready to light the flame of war?

- The Sisterhood call Rassilon the “father of lies”.
- Among the wreckage on Karn are the “last battleships of the Temporal Powers” including ships belonging to the Monans and Phaidonians.
- Weapons in the spaceship graveyard include pulse grenades and a micro-blaster.
- Ohila considers the War Doctor to be worse than "the one with the hat and umbrella".
- Sanmar uses Quadrigger gear to repair the Doctor's TARDIS and plans to block transfer a Battle TARDIS template onto it.
- The Doctor wonders if the Sisters are tapping into the Matrix to show him the Time War.
- Rasmus' last regeneration was on the battlefield.
- Rasmus claims the War Council will want briefings from the Doctor.
- Sanmar detects active waveform, Artron radiation and Omega particles at the heart of Karn.

- This story marks Big Finish's first post regeneration story, showing a Doctor in their first moments properly, as the first full adventure for the War Doctor was never shown.
