Dr Nicholas Clyde was a 26th century member of the Knights of Jeneve.

Biography[[edit] | [edit source]]

Nicholas Clyde was one of the Knights of Jeneve. He studied history at Kai-Tec and earnt a doctorate after completing his thesis, Ambitions of Empire, on Hugo Gamaliel. He was hired as a specialist lecturer in Gamaliel by St Oscar's University in 2593 and selected by Romolo Nusek to join his expedition to Stanturus Three to prove Gamaliel's presence there as an independent observer, something that Nicholas was keen to disprove for the sake of the Knights.

Taking with him the keypad capable of detonating the Gamalian Dragon, which he claimed was the first object he had ever unearthed on a dig despite also claiming to have never been on a dig, Nicholas travelled accepted the offer and travelled to Tharn with Mastrov, Bernice Summerfield and Mappin Gilder to meet Nusek. There, he joined Benny in breaking into the archives and was given the Dragon of Jeneve by Moxon Reddik, a fellow Knight who worked out where it was hidden thanks to Benny. He took over from Benny after she was bitten by rodents and murdered his team in an explosion to destroy and cover up the ruins they found proving Gamaliel's presence there. He was blamed for the explosion by Nusek.

Nicholas was held captive with Benny until Irving Braxiatel insisted on both of them giving evidence at the Stanturan Inquiry into the Gamalian Dragon, which Mastrov planted on the planet as evidence. The pair destroyed Gamaliel's reputation with what Nicholas knew to be lies and Nicholas claimed that Nusek had caused the explosion. Afterwards, they fled with Braxiatel and Benny forced Nicholas to tell the truth about his identity. They were captured by Lanslot Webbe and taken to Tharn to be executed. Nicholas was killed by falling into lava and pulled Mastrov with him after throwing the keypad to Benny, to whom he had also given the Dragon of Jeneve for safekeeping.
