:Feel free to alter the Feature Article policy whatever way to accommodate your new additions. I don't think your additions are a large shift in policy, it's more a development of the "Feature Article rejection" part of the policy. Also if you follow through the policy's talk page to the forum and (through some other links), there was this page [[Tardis:Nominations for featured articles]] which was how we used to do it, until it all sort of stalled and I restarted it with the system we've got at the moment, but the nominations page was in 2008, now we've got more active users so any opposition should get the problems fixed, rather than just stagnating.

It seems user [http://tardis.wikia.com/wiki/User:Bold_Clone Bold Clone] and I have a bit of a disagreement on how the [[TARDIS]] page should be edited. He edited sections and pics that he felt were out of place. I don't believe the edits were necessary. Truthfully, the edits he made were done more then a week ago. I just haven't had time to write to you. I talked to him about it a week or so ago and he said that only input from a moderator would be enough to sway his decision. This was a good idea and that's why I'm writing to you. I undid his edits again but only so you would have a more recent edit to make a comparision from. I'm sure he'll undo my undo all over again. According to Bold Clone the console pic quote "Irrelevant to flight." end quote. According to him, quote " The console of the Doctor's TARDIS is completely irrelevant to the TARDIS' flight. It doesn't belong there." end quote. While I, personally, would prefer another pic of a newer version of the TARDIS' console, I disagree with him in regards to the idea that the console is irrelevant to flight. It b elongs on the TARDIS page and in the Flight section. The reason I say this is because it has been demonstrated "that all you need is a console w/ time rotor and three walls to fly through the vortex". We see this in the episode [http://tardis.wikia.com/wiki/The_Doctor%27s_Wife The Doctor's Wife], [http://tardis.wikia.com/wiki/The_Doctor%27s_Wife The Doctor's Wife] is the episode where Idris and The Doctor use left over parts from cannibalized TARDISes abandoned in the Bubble universe's Junkyard to build the [http://tardis.wikia.com/wiki/Junk_TARDIS Junk TARDIS]. With the junk TARDIS they fly to the Police Box TARDIS which had been hijacked by [http://tardis.wikia.com/wiki/House House]. According to the [http://tardis.wikia.com/wiki/Junk_TARDIS junk TARDIS] wikia page "'The TARDIS consisted solely of a console (with [http://tardis.wikia.com/wiki/Time_rotor time rotor]) and three walls. It lacked a proper shell, which the Doctor stated would be very dangerous to travel without." So basically I think this demonstrates that the console is key to time-space flight and that it does belong in the flight section.

Basically I posted a reference in the "Chameleon circuit" section noting the time when the TARDIS landed in the White House's Oval Office in 1969. The TARDIS was both invisible and inaudible at the time so Nixon and his staff didn't know the TARDIS was there. This happened in the first episode of series 6, [http://tardis.wikia.com/wiki/The_Impossible_Astronaut The Impossible Astronaut]. Bold Clone said , "Chameleon circuit: Completely irrelevant to the shapeshifting abilities of the chameleon circuit." From what I can tell the Chameleon Circuit is designed to conceal the TARDIS in order to allow it to blend into it's surroundings like a chameleon. Shapeshifting is one way it does that, invisibility is the other way, so I think it does fit under that category. He also took out a pic showing the TARDIS going from being invisible to visible in the Oval Office.

It was previously reviewed by you and you didn't seem to have a problem with it, prior to it's removal. The pic was meant to illustrate how the TARDIS was bigger on the inside. ::Well you said, "If you have a problem with it, talk to the staff" I came to the false conclusion that the word of an administrator would be enough to get you to stop undoing my edits. Am I wrong about that? I never said that they would change your opinion. The TARDIS isn't a big ship like the Enterprise or the Galactica. There are a few key components that make a TARDIS. One of those key components is the console. Words are great, but visual content is important too. I'm not sure about others, but when I look up a wikia I want to see what it is I'm reading about. That's why a few pics are necassary. They don't take up that much space on the page and they make all the differance.

Sorry it's taken a few days to get back to you on your rejig of featured article nominations.  I don't really understand your basic ruleset.  When does approval happen?  According to what I can figure out on your sandbox page, the answer ''seems'' to be, "When there are no remaining objections".  So it's not a positive vote of "This is a great article because it adheres to points a, b and c of the (as-yet-unwritten) [[Tardis:Featured article policy]]," Rather, it's a ''negative'' vote of, "No one ''dis''-likes the article, so we can now feature it on the main page."

I'd recommend setting a clear ''standard'' for FA status, then finding six articles which adhere to that standard, with those six articles agreed by admin over a week long private nomination process not open to the general editing community.  In other words, really truly get the six best articles on the wiki.  Then, roll those six articles out over the next six months.

As your ruleset currently stands, an article could be featured without even being seconded, since your main criterion is merely that no one ''objects'' to it. Hey, I saw that you had put most of the docs into the 'making of' cat, but that you hadn't actually made the cat yet, by affixing it to an existing cat.  I changed the name to something wordier, but more precise, [[:category:Documentaries about the making of Doctor Who televised stories|Documentaries about the making of Doctor Who televised stories]], and then stuck it under [[:category:Doctor Who documentaries|Doctor Who documentaries]].  But I don't really remember what all the other new cats were. I just wanted to bring something to your attentions. There are currently two pages about the same thing- [[Gaffbeque]] and [[Gaffabeque]] (regarding the foodstuff mentioned in [[Bad Wolf (TV story)|Bad Wolf]]).
In the episode, as you'll of course know, it's pronounced "Gaff-a-beque" rather than "Gaff-beque". Is it possible to merge the two pages under the name "Gaffabeque" and use the information on that page since it's more lengthy. Also, we'd need to change the link on the page [[Lucifer]].

To Skittles the Hog. I just wanted to know why you deleted my page I set up for Steve Livesey. I cannot see any reason why, it was not offensive in any way at all. I was really proud to see my Fathers name mentioned on here. He was a brilliant artist, and I saw a link every time his name was mentioned so I started to set up a blog for him on that link, which people can do and other people have. but for some reason I am not allowed to. Why are you undoing all my edits? I'm referring specifically to the ones where I added various Doctors to the category "Individual Time Lords". Every other Time Lord with pages for different incarnations is in this category, so why should the Doctor be any different? yeah man I did read the guidelines - but the line I'm talking about is specific to the episode, and I was trying to justify why it should be covered in the continuity section for the episode or somewhere like that. The same two lines used in episodes not that far apart would suggest a potential linked interest for the reader and can't be a coincidence - not when it's a concept mentioned so often in the recent history of the show, including one's with Moffat involvement. I'm guessing if you'd have read my comment you would have seen that (surely you couldn't have done in that short period of time - I wanted to make more clear why a small point could be made in the article and how it was justified in terms of article write ups - went to edit it within seconds of posting it had disappeared!).

After what has been explained to me about how pages should not be put in category "B" if they're already in category "A" which is a sub-category of B, I was looking at the Torchwood articles, and noticed that every single episode is in the category "Series # (Torchwood)" but also in the category "Torchwood television stories". All the "Series # (Torchwood)" categories are sub-categories of "Torchwood television stories" (and rightly so).


So from my understanding, the individual articles should 'not' be categorised under "Torchwood television stories" as they are already there under "Series # (Torchwood)". I decided against remedying this myself though, as since this was the case for all 40-odd episodes I thought there may be a reason (unknown to me) for it.

Image rules cheat card[[edit source]]

I'm noticing more and more instances of people uploading pictures which are, according to agreed practises, flawed in some way. I'm thinking that part of the reason might be that we haven't put it all together on one page, so I've created T:ICC, or Help:Image cheat card. It's kind of in the vein of the Help:Spelling cheat card — just a quick run-through of the big points about image usage. Let me know if you think it could be improved.

Images by story categories[[edit source]]

Please be aware that images by televised story and images by comic story are now completely filled out with subcategories for each and every story of that type. So if you have an image from say, Thinktwice, you'll want to make sure that you put it in Category:Thinktwice comic story images. Or if you have something from The Mind of Evil, please ensure it gets into Category:The Mind of Evil TV story images.

These images by story categories are, of course, in addition to any other categories which may be appropriate, such as ones from Images by character, Images by object, or images by species.

Images by story will continue to grow over the coming weeks to include other media, but comics and TV were deemed the highest priority, since the vast majority of images will come from these two visual media.

Also, if you haven't noticed it for now, TV story pages now all have a little tab at the top left labelled "images". Clicking it takes you to the relevant category, so that you can quickly view our repository of images from that particular story All stories will eventually have this sort of link. Longer term, individual charactes might also have such a link.

As this fiftieth anniversary year comes to a close, we here at Tardis just want to thank you for being a part of our community — even if you haven't edited here in a while. If you have edited with us this year, then thanks for all your hard work.

This year has seen an impressive amount of growth. We've added about 11,000 pages this year, which is frankly incredible for a wiki this big. November was predictably one of the busiest months we've ever had: over 500 unique editors pitched in. It was the highest number of editors in wiki history for a year in which only one programme in the DWU was active. And our viewing stats have been through the roof. We've averaged well over 2 million page views each week for the last two months, with some weeks seeing over 4 million views!

Hey there, I'm headling offline now but I've noticed that some unnamed user had edited the Cloister Bell page. So out of everyone's interests, I tidied it up. It seemed s/he didn't understand I was helping and reversed it again. I just tidied it up again but if you could keep an eye out so that he doesn't feel the need to leave trails of terrible English on more pages, it'd be appreciated.

If I remember tomorrow, I'll try to clean up that page since it does have quite a lot of bullet points haha.

Gaffabeque vs Gaffbeque[[edit source]]

Hi there. I just wanted to bring something to your attentions. There are currently two pages about the same thing- Gaffbeque and Gaffabeque (regarding the foodstuff mentioned in Bad Wolf).

In the episode, as you'll of course know, it's pronounced "Gaff-a-beque" rather than "Gaff-beque". Is it possible to merge the two pages under the name "Gaffabeque" and use the information on that page since it's more lengthy. Also, we'd need to change the link on the page Lucifer.

Sorry to intrude on your busy patrolling but it's been doing my head in and I don't want to break any rules by merging pages... I don't even know how to do it.

My source for the uncredited service mechanic actors was The Doctor Who Production Guide Volume Three: Cast and Crew by David Brunt and Andrew Pixley, published by the Doctor Who Appreciation Society in April 1998. I hope this helps. I'd also like to say thank you for your contributions to the page, as these have greatly improved it.

On the subject of Ford Transit, I just thought I'd let you know that I accept and respect your decision to delete this page; admins — or is it caretakers now? — know best! I'll just write it off to experience. I'd also like to apologize for my attempts to counter the point on Talk:Ford Transit; this was the first time I had ever done such a thing, and I'm afraid I failed miserably in doing so — just as I did on Talk:Eeny, meeny, miny, moe.

If only I'd called the 'Ford Transit' page 'Pickup truck' instead. It would probably have been less bother...

I'm working through the WantedPages, and there are some that are, I believe, not really wanted. Like User blog:Magic Afro, BFBS and Template:Str index/logic. I'm not linking them, as that would make the problem worse. Might it be possible to delink them on the pages they are at? Which are often talk pages and Howling forums. Any help would be appreciated.
