Jackie Lane (born 10 July 1941 [1] in Manchester) played Dodo Chaplet, one of the First Doctor's companions, from the conclusion of The Massacre of St Bartholomew's Eve to The War Machines. She played the part from February to July 1966 alongside William Hartnell as the Doctor.

She went on to become a theatrical agent, representing Tom Baker, who would play the Fourth Doctor in 1974, and Janet Fielding, who would play companion Tegan Jovanka in 1981.

According to The Handbook: The Unofficial and Unauthorised Guide to the Production of Doctor Who, Lane was a candidate for the role of Susan Foreman in 1963.

As of 2012, Lane is one of only a few surviving actors who has not reprised her Doctor Who role for Big Finish Productions.

Footnotes

  1. Jackie Lane stated in her Myth Makers interview that she was born in 1941. The 1947 date is a fan myth.
