- 1970’s Earth bound TV stories were heavily influenced by the TV Quatermass serials where Professor Quatermass helped the British Army fight alien threats.
- The hollow planet of Zanak had no fixed location as it moved around the universe plundering and crushing other planets (like Bandraginus Five, Granadds and Calufrax,for over a hundred years.
- In 1977, The Invasion of Time replaced an originally proposed story referred to as Killers of the Dark and The Killer Cats of Geng Singh by David Weir that was to have featured cat-like natives of Gallifrey and a gladiatorial arena.
