Season 19 of Doctor Who ran between 4th January 1982 and 31st March 1982. It starred Peter Davison in his first season as the Fifth Doctor.

Overview

The season consisted of seven serials and 26 episodes airing on a bi-weekly schedule. A milestone occurred at the end of Earthshock with the death of companion Adric, the first companion to die since The Daleks' Master Plan aired in 1965 and 1966. Other milestones included Black Orchid, the first non-science fictional historical serial since 1966's The Gunfighters, and the destruction of the sonic screwdriver in The Visitation.
