East Berlin

East Berlin was the East German half of Berlin created by the separation of Germany following World War II. During the Cold War, a barrier known as the Berlin Wall separated East Berlin and East Germany as a whole from West Germany's West Berlin. (AUDIO: Protect and Survive)

In 1962, a British agent named Stempfer was stationed in East Berlin where he intercepted Soviet plans to place missiles in Cuba. He gave the information to the Fourth Doctor. The Doctor sent him back to find out more, but Stempfer was discovered and killed by the Jalaphron. (PROSE: Checkpoint)

In 1965, Group Captain Ian Gilmore, Professor Rachel Jensen and Sir Toby Kinsella visited both East Berlin and West Berlin to investigate reports of UFO sightings and smuggled footage of an alien making contact with Soviet agents. Both turned out to be incidents of Soviet misinformation. (AUDIO: Unto the Breach)

In 1966, Steven Taylor and Sara Kingdom ended up in East Berlin following a collision between the First Doctor's TARDIS and the experimental time travel vessel Hank Morgan IV. (AUDIO: The Anachronauts)

East Berlin ceased to exist when democratic uprisings in the Eastern Bloc countries resulted in the fall of the Berlin Wall on 9 November 1989 as well as the reunification of Germany. (AUDIO: Protect and Survive; COMIC: The Broken Man)

As a child, Steven Taylor and his classmates built a 5D representation of East Berlin. (AUDIO: The Anachronauts)
