Don't Blink or Don't Blink! was a video game released for Halloween 2016 on BBC Taster. It was only available for 3 months.
The main feature of the game was that it used the player's desktop webcam to detect if they blinked, an idea developed by Matt Shotton. The BBC Drama Digital team commissioned Aardman Animations to create a game that used Shotton's webcam idea and Don't Blink was the result.
Publisher's summary
Can your webcam save you from the Weeping Angels in this spooky mini-game? The Angels can only get you when you’re not looking at them so 'don’t blink' and hold on until the Doctor sends the TARDIS for you. Too difficult? Too easy? Don't forget to rate and share.
Notes
- Although the Doctor saves the player at the end of the game, he is not actually seen in the game. The image used for the game on the Doctor Who website has the Twelfth Doctor in it.
- If the player loses, the Angels send them back in time to various historic events where they are killed. These include: Pompeii in 79, the Black Death in 1348, the Great Fire of London in 1666, the Battle of Culloden in 1746, the French Revolution in 1789, the Mary Celeste in 1872, a gunfight at the O.K. Corral in 1881, the Battle of the Somme in 1916, and the London Blitz in 1940.
