Useless Things was a Brief Encounter short story published in Doctor Who Magazine 212.
Summary
Alien invaders led by Prince Genei plan to take over the world, but are scared off by a police box they believe to be the Doctor's TARDIS. However, the police box is actually genuine and the last of its kind in England; workmen arrive to remove it shortly after the invaders depart for their own world.
