The Doctor had a cupboard in the TARDIS, where he kept various "useful" items that the cabinet in the console room had no room for. Among these were a remote-controlled car and the time path indicator. By the Doctor's second incarnation, the cupboard was full to bursting and its contents spilled over the corridor when Jamie McCrimmon opened it. (AUDIO: Daughter of the Gods)
