'Unofficial' status
For reasons unknown, the Eighth Doctor regenerated into the Ninth Doctor. However, just after the new 2005 series was announced, the BBC webcast starring the "new" Doctor, Scream of the Shalka, was released onto the BBC website. This caused this Doctor to be shunted into "unofficial" status.
Biography
Like the Eighth Doctor to the Ninth Doctor, it is assumed that the Eighth Doctor regenerated into this Doctor as a result of the Time War. In Scream of the Shalka he met his new assistant, barmaid Alison Cheaney, and also rescued the Earth from the Shalka.
Aside from a short story, The Feast of the Stone, on the BBC website, no other 'canonical' appearances have been made by this Doctor.
Characteristics
This Doctor was serious but wasn't averted to the odd bit of fun. He kept an android of the Master in the TARDIS with him.
