- Heavy losses are reported from Skaro where the super robot-like Daleks are fighting a losing battle against a cloud of deadly radioactive rust. The beta-gamma contaminated rust consumes metal at the rate of a cubic inch a second and can destroy a Dalek in little under half a minute.
- The Black Dalek will reveal no information on the number of Daleks missing but the Space News Agency station S.N.A. 5 estimates that up to half the home army has been destroyed.
- Dalek Tracking station PZ8 is pictured just before being destroyed by the rust cloud.
- Los Angeles Homicide is investigating the sudden death of fortune teller Irvin Death who was killed when his crystal ball exploded. Captain Burke is in charge of the investigation with an arrest expected soon.
- The Space Meteorological Office has issued the following warning to all spaceships travelling between Mars and Jupiter: Heavy meteor showers are expected in space areas Mars-Jupiter. Space station will be closed to all traffic except for emergencies. Spaceships are warned to seek shelter at any of the large asteroids.
Story notes
- This story is another crossover with Burke's Law.
Continuity
- The Daleks are still fighting the rust plague. (COMIC: Plague of Death, PROSE: Ice Planet Mystery)
- The Dalek Emperor is still away from Skaro despite being summoned back after his failed invasion of Solturis. (COMIC: The Penta Ray Factor, PROSE: Ice Planet Mystery)
- Amos Burke is not deceased as was previously reported. (PROSE: XL5 Collision Course!)
