Behind the scenes
Abel's debut comic story, Abel's Story, was immediately preceded by Kane's Story, which introduced Kane, an ex-academic with telekinetic abilities. Taken together, Kane and Abel are references to Cain and Abel, two siblings from the Book of Genesis in the Hebrew Bible.
The short story One Bad Apple would later feature another such pairing: Lieutenant Cain and soldier Abel.
