2020: The Movie (TV story): Difference between revisions

(Added plot summary. As much as some editors really want this to be the 13th Dr and Yaz, they're really, really not. They are literally depicted as in-universe characters being played by in-universe actors, and "Another Doctor" literally has nothing in common with Yaz except for a shared actress and the circumstance of her being placed next to Jodie Whittaker.) |

Revision as of 16:13, 16 January 2022
As established by many precedents, we cover media like this in full, not just the Doctor Who elements; therefore, the plot summary and cast list needs to be amended to contain details from the entire mini-sode.
These problems might be so great that the article's factual accuracy has been compromised. Talk about it here or check the revision history or Manual of Style for more information.
2020: The Movie was a comedic mini-episode originally shown during the 2021 Red Nose Day telethon on BBC One. It was an in-universe trailer for a fictional film about the struggles of dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic throughout 2020.
The mini-episode was unconventional in one respect, as it depicted fictional characters being played by fictional depictions of the real world actors in the mini-episode. The mini-episode is of note to this Wiki, as it depicted Jodie Whittaker and Mandip Gill playing Jodie Whittaker and Mandip Gill, in turn playing the Doctor and Another Doctor, respectively.
Synopsis

After a year like no other, prepare for the biggest blockbuster movie NEVER made (yet) with 2020: The Movie. Part biopic, part disaster film, this new release turns movie stars into unlikely everyday British heroes.
Plot
A narrator provides a voiceover on a trailer for 2020: The Movie, which is coming soon-ish. Footage plays of deserted parts of London and a motorway, before cutting to Russell Brand playing Joe Wicks, a fitness instructor. Now it cuts to her next door neighbour with three kids who really really really can't take it anymore, portrayed by Carey Mulligan, who is visibly about to have a breakdown.
Now Tina, played by Anna Friel, becomes the first woman to cut her own hair, but fails miserably, and tries to find a shavers or dog clippers to shave it all off.
Jodie Whittaker and Mandip Gill play the Doctor and... Another Doctor. They hear clapping, which the second Doctor believes is for Bake Off, but the Doctor identifies it as the 8PM clapping for carers.
