Revision as of 21:30, 1 April 2023
As this is a narrative trailer, this page needs to be treated... y'know, as a story. So the page needs to be edited to be like a standard story page.
Also, is the section about other series 5 trailers actually relevant to this page specifically? Might they be better documented at Series 5 (Doctor Who)?
These problems might be so great that the article's factual accuracy has been compromised. Talk about it here or check the revision history or Manual of Style for more information.
The Journey (also known as Into the Vortex and Down the Rabbit Hole[additional sources needed]) was a mini-episode promoting the fifth series of Doctor Who and the introduction of the Eleventh Doctor and Amy Pond as the new Doctor and companion.
It was shown in cinemas in 3D.

Notes
- There were two versions of both trailers (2D & 3D), a 65 second full length one and a 45 second "cut-down" one.
- This trailer featured a narrative and new material of Matt Smith and Karen Gillan in character.
- The main music used in the trailer was "Down the Rabbit Hole" by Delicious Digital,[1][2] which had been specially composed for it.
- The 2007 arrangement of the "Doctor Who theme" by Murray Gold it used at the end of the trailer.
- The trailers were shot in 3D.[3]
- The trailers were recorded in Studio 3 at Upper Boat Studios on Thursday 19 November 2009.[3]
Other series 5 trailers
There were also other non-narrative clip based trailers advertising the fifth series.
Two 30 second trailers began airing from 19 March 2010, and marked the first use of the music cue "I Am the Doctor". A longer 55 second version aired on Friday Night with Jonathan Ross on 26 March 2010, adding the taglines Who is Coming and It's About Time. On 3 April 2010 it was revealed that these trailers were in fact short versions of the 1'55'' Coming Soon trailer from the end of The Eleventh Hour. They featured clips from every episode of Series 5 apart from The Eleventh Hour and The Big Bang.
To avoid spoilers for the The Eleventh Hour Amy's line is changed to "When I was a little girl, I dreamed of time and space. Last night all my dreams came true."
Home video releases
- The 2D trailers were included on the Doctor Who: The Complete Fifth Series DVD & Blu-ray box set released on 8 November 2010.
