The abandoned vehicle. (WC: The Ninth Doctor vs the Cybermen)

The Taalyens build a massive drilling machine for the Daleks on the planet Keska. The Daleks then used it to drill to the planet's core. (AUDIO: The Thousand Worlds) With the War Doctor's help, Garv blew up himself and the drill before it could reach the core. (AUDIO: The Heart of the Battle)

Along with deceased Daleks, Time Lords, Mechanoids, and Cybermen, a drill-equipped vehicle lay as an example of "the waste and detritus" from the Last Great Time War in "a junkyard stretching across eternity". (WC: The Ninth Doctor vs the Cybermen)

Behind the scenes[[edit] | [edit source]]

Although the vehicle is not named, it is clearly the same model of drill ship used on the cover of Only the Monstrous. In the trailer for said release, the ships were revealed to have been part of Operation Thousand Worlds. Chris Thompson confirmed this was the case after being questioned on whether it was actually the Mole from the British series Thunderbirds.[1]
