Sweep was a sausage-loving dog who starred in The Sooty Show with Sooty, Soo, and Matthew Corbett, the former of which he often got into mischief with. Sweep squeaked to communicate, although Matthew found him to be annoying. (PROSE: It's Raining Gin [+]Loading...["It's Raining Gin (short story)"])

Biography

At some point, for his birthday, Sweep was taken to Butchers Sausage Fun Park, which he squeaked a lot over. (PROSE: It's Raining Gin [+]Loading...{"page":"134","1":"It's Raining Gin (short story)"}) Sweep was in another episode where he drank ginger beer with Sooty, which caused controversy. (PROSE: It's Raining Gin [+]Loading...{"page":"137","1":"It's Raining Gin (short story)"})

Later, for a special episode of the show, Matthew Corbett took Sweep, Sooty, and Soo to the seaside meeting Iris Wildthyme and Panda while waiting for the bus. Iris pulled a glass gun out of her handbag and aimed it at Sweep, causing him to squeak frantically, though Matthew expressed no remorse at this as he found Sweep to have been "just that little bit too annoying, too often." However, Iris didn't mean to kill Sweep, as the gun was merely a gin pistol filled with Bombay Sapphire. Soo and Panda went off by themselves to a restaurant in Paris '62. After they left, Sweep, Sooty, and Iris planned together to have some fun and Matthew cut to the advert break.

At the seaside, Sweep and Sooty plan to have a paddle in the sea, but as Matthew spoke about the lovely weather, it began raining, so they took shelter in a chippy and ordered fish and chips, however as they sat down at a table to eat, they realised that a cloud followed them in and was raining directly on them. Iris tried scolding the cloud while Sweep and Sooty hid under the table, but the chippy began to quickly flood and the other patrons left the shop, only to find themselves being followed by other clouds which they couldn't escape from. After Sooty whispered his plan to Iris, she retrieved her gin pistol, and through Sooty's magic wand and the help of the children in the audience chanting "IZ-ZY WHI-ZZY, LET'S GET BUSY", Sweep and Sooty were armed with gin pistols of their own. They squirted them at the clouds, causing them to drunkenly fall asleep.

After the defeat of the clouds, Matthew showed the audience a montage of Sweep and Sooty playing: they paddle in the sea, where Sooty gets knocked over by a wave which Sweep found funny until he too was knocked over; they rode a donkey until Sweep accidentally scared it and it galloped off with its owner chasing after it; and they got ice cream, but Sweep tripped over and it landed in Matthew's face. Matthew wished to get revenge.

As the sun began to set, Panda and Soo returned, and Matthew stupidly asked them if they got the gin out of their pistols; they then began squirting him. Before it got too silly, Matthew ended the episode. (PROSE: It's Raining Gin [+]Loading...["It's Raining Gin (short story)"])
