One of the most notable events of the 22nd century was undoubtedly the invasion of Earth and the solar system by the Daleks. This invasion was repelled by the First Doctor, Susan, Ian Chesterton, and Barbara Wright. So engaged was Susan with the fight to rid the planet of Daleks that she left behind her life aboard her grandfather's TARDIS, and decided to call this century her home, marrying David Campbell. Humans, though, took the fight back to the Daleks during. The crew of the Earth starship Starfinder landed on Skaro and fought the Daleks on their home planet. (SP: The Curse of the Daleks)

Like Susan, Samantha Jones spent several years in this time zone when separated from the Doctor.

During the early years of the century the galaxy was hit with an economic recession.

• A group of Daleks steal a Krikoosh cage in order to turn all humans into living ghosts that are unable to fight back against the Daleks. They were defeated by the Doctor, with the help of the Krikoosh. (DWBIT: The Living Ghosts, Extermination of the Daleks)

• Earth colonises nearby star systems (still technically in the 21st century). (DW: The Waters of Mars)

• A breakdown in weather control systems results in the Ozone Purge, causing many species, including sheep, cats and sparrows, to become extinct. (NA: Lucifer Rising)
• Yembe Lethbridge-Stewart dies and is buried at the Achebe Gorge on Mars. (NA: Transit)

• A group of 800 hundred Human colonists leave Earth for the planet Sunday to establish a colony. Approximately nine months later, the colony is struck by a tidal wave, killing more than half of the colonists and washing away most of the colony. (NSA: Wetworld)

• The Tenth Doctor and Martha Jones visit the planet Sunday and assist the colonists with the threat of the Swamp Monster. (NSA: Wetworld)

Susan Campbell (nee Foreman) tries to fight to reverse this trend and seek interplanetary aid. Half-Time Lord Alex Campbell is a rebel against Earth United.
