The Glamour Chase was the sixth Eleventh Doctor novel to be released. It saw the reappearance of the Glamour which debuted in Ghosts of India.

An archaeological dig in 1936 unearths relics of another time... And – as the Doctor, Amy and Rory realise – another place. Another planet. The Doctor

• The book opens with an unspecified past incarnation of the Doctor. Later in the novel, the Doctor says that that he was unsure which incarnation it was. He thinks that it was possibly between five or eight incarnations before, implying it was either the Third Doctor, Fourth Doctor, Fifth Doctor, or Sixth Doctor. The narration mentions "odd clothes" and "strange hair", suggesting that it may have been the Fourth or Sixth.
• When seeing a drawing of himself the Doctor says that the old brown suit that appears in the picture he's "not fitted into for a while". Which is probably a reference to the outfit worn by his previous incarnation.

Archaeologists

• When listing the greatest archeologists, the Doctor mentions Howard Carter, Indiana Jones, Marcus Scarman, Bernice Summerfield, and Enola Porter.

Races and species

• The Shadow Proclamation, Shadow Architect, and Daleks are referred to.

Games from the real world

• Rory and Oliver Marks play Chess in the Manse garden.

Notes

• The original title was Adorable Illusion, but the previews in the books Apollo 23, Night of the Humans and The Forgotten Army confirmed that the title was changed to The Glamour Chase.

Continuity

• The Doctor, Amy and Rory are still trying to get to Rio de Janeiro as they were in DW: The Hungry Earth. So far while trying to get there they have visited Tibet, the world of Dragons (NSA: The King's Dragon) and been jousting.
• Glamours previously appeared in NSA: Ghosts of India.
• Amy refers to "universal criminals", "alien vampires" and "strange nightmares" (DW: The Eleventh Hour, The Vampires of Venice, Amy's Choice)
