The Twelfth Doctor was the first incarnation of the Doctor in a new cycle of regenerations granted by the Time Lords. (TV: The Time of the Doctor)
At some point in his travels he joined his previous selves in helping place Gallifrey in a pocket universe at the end of the Last Great Time War. (TV: The Day of the Doctor)
Shortly after the Eleventh Doctor's regeneration, this Doctor voiced his surprise at having new kidneys, and his inability to fly the TARDIS; much to Clara Oswald's shock.
