The Twelfth Doctor was the first incarnation of the Doctor in a new cycle of regenerations granted by the Time Lords. (TV: The Time of the Doctor)
At some point in his travels he joined his previous selves in helping place Gallifrey in a pocket universe at the end of the Last Great Time War. (TV: The Day of the Doctor)
Shortly after the Eleventh Doctor's regeneration, this Doctor voiced his surprise at having new kidneys, and his inability to fly the TARDIS; much to Clara Oswald's shock.
Behind the scenes
- Like the War and Ninth Doctors, the Twelfth Doctor unusually debuted on television before his regeneration from his predecessor was screened. However, the Eighth Doctor gave the opening narration on his debut story, around 20 minutes before his regeneration was shown.
