The North Pole was the northernmost point on Earth, located in the Arctic ocean.
History
3rd Millenium B.C.
Around 3000 BC, Ice Warrior Grand Marshal Skaldak was frozen in the ice. (TV: Cold War)
20th Century
The Tenth Doctor took Martha Jones to the North Pole sometime between 1888 and 1892. Martha was the first person to walk on the North Pole, but the Doctor erased her footsteps so they wouldn't spoil it for anyone else. (PROSE: The Frozen Wastes)
In 1983, the Soviet submarine, the Firebird picked up Skaldak and he woke up. After Skaldak was attacked by a cattle prod, he tried attacking humanity by launching a nuclear missile from the submarine, causing the other powers to strike back.
