Double-barreled shotgun

A double-barreled shotgun was a type of crude firearm used on Earth.

The Sixth Doctor used such a weapon to kill Chintor, an insectoid scout of the Kyle system, at close range. (PROSE: Retribution)

Meg Seeley used a doubled-barreled shotgun to defend herself when an Auton invaded her home looking for a Nestene energy sphere that her husband Sam had taken. However, the weapon proved inaffective against the Auton. (TV: Spearhead from Space)

The Fourth Doctor and Leela earlier used a similar weapon loaded with salt to disable and kill two Fendahleen. (TV: Image of the Fendahl)

Helen Sherman, one of the Brynblaidd cannibals, held Ianto Jones and Toshiko Sato at gunpoint with a double-barreled shotgun. (TV: Countrycide)

Neil also planned to murder his ex-wife and son with a double-barreled shotgun and then kill himself in a fit of revenge on his ex-wife's boyfriend; fortunately, he was knocked out by Toshiko Sato with a golf club before he could do so. (TV: Greeks Bearing Gifts)

The shotgun was also used by some residents of Hooverville to defend themselves against pig slaves, to great success, but the weapons were ineffective against Daleks. (TV : Evolution of the Daleks)
