The Third Series of The Sarah Jane Adventures is currently being broadcast by both CBBC and BBC One, having debuted on 15th October 2009. The season consists of six stories of two episodes each.
In a change of broadcast format, two episodes will air each week, on Thursday and Friday.[1]
Among notable appearances this season, K-9 Mark IV will appear in six of the twelve episodes and David Tennant appeared as the Tenth Doctor in the two-part story The Wedding of Sarah Jane Smith which aired in late October.

Rumours and Announcements
- On 26 May 2009, the BBC Press Office issued an announcement confirming the appearance of David Tennant. "It's more than just a cameo from the Tenth Doctor! He's a proper part of the story," said Russell T. Davies. He also added that the two-parter is "extraordinary, wild and powerfully moving," cryptically adding, "let's just say that the wedding of Sarah Jane will be a day for everyone to remember!".[2]
- K-9 will appear in 6 of the 12 episodes of the series. While this has yet to be confirmed, the BBC announcement regarding Tennant did confirm that K-9 appears in at least his two episodes.
- The Trickster will return.

- A villain named Erasmus Darkening which has been described as one of the greatest and most chilling villain we've ever seen. [source needed]

- Information on the first episode has been revealed that a reptilian character called Androvax, a Veil. He's under arrest when one of the Judoon's life carriers crashes on Earth, so a Judoon's hunting down his prisoner who's escaped.[source needed]

Novelisations
As of September 2009 only one story from this season has been announced for adaptation as a novelisation.
