An android is a humanoid robot. Examples include Kamelion (in his natural form) (DW: The King's Demons) and the K1 robot (DW: Robot). By the 51st century androids are indistinguishable from humans were common, and River Song claimed to have dated several. (DW: Silence in the Library)

Although the term android is often used for robots of both genders, a female android is sometimes called a gynoid. (NA: Christmas on a Rational Planet)
