Series 3 (SJA)

The Third Series of The Sarah Jane Adventures aired on CBBC and BBC One in the fall of 2009. The season consisted of six stories of two episodes each.

In a change of broadcast format, two episodes aired each week, on Thursday and Friday, meaning the entire series aired over a six-week period, with a complete storyline told each week.

Among notable appearances this season, K-9 Mark IV appeared in six of the twelve episodes and David Tennant appeared as the Tenth Doctor in the two-part story The Wedding of Sarah Jane Smith which aired in late October.

Thanks in part to Tennant's appearance, the season scored higher-than-average ratings for children's programming, and also consistently scored high Appreciation Index ratings from viewers.

As of November 2009, it has not yet been announced whether a fourth season will be commissioned, or if Russell T Davies will continue as producer.
