History

Verity Lambert got the idea to cast Hartnell as the Doctor after seeing him in the kitchen-sink drama This Sporting Life. (NOTVALID: Doctor Whoah! 407) He auditioned for the role in 1963 and later got the part. At his audition, he ordered his companions Susan, Ian and Barbara to clean the TARDIS control room. This forced a member of the crew to politely remind him he was no longer in The Army Game. In 1966, he was suceeded in the role by Patrick Troughton. (NOTVALID: Ever Wondered What Happened At.. Legacy
