Jonathan Pryce, CBE (born 1 June 1947[1]) played the Master in The Curse of Fatal Death, a special comedy episode produced by the BBC in the 1990s for Comic Relief.
Pryce has since laughingly referred to his role as this "spoof" Master as spoiling his chances to ever play the Master on the TV series in a regular capacity.[1] He had been considered for the role in the 1996 TV Movie as well as for the Eighth Doctor.[2]
Among his film roles: villain Elliot Carver in the James Bond film Tomorrow Never Dies, Governor Swann in the Pirates of the Caribbean trilogy, Mr Dark in Something Wicked This Way Comes and Sam Lowry in Brazil. In 2007, Pryce played Sherlock Holmes in the television serial Sherlock Holmes and the Baker Street Irregulars, opposite Bill Paterson as Dr Watson.
