The Tenth Doctor knew Arthur, recalling that Arthur was a "nice man", upon the occasion where he felt that wearing pyjamas made him feel "very Arthur Dent". (TV: The Christmas Invasion) This compliment would've surprised Arthur, as on the occasions that the Doctor had encountered Dent, he remained uninterested in killing Vogons and often beat Dent at Scrabble while making long and boring conversation with Ford about their wild time together in college. • The webcast illustration of Shada's interior contains Arthur Dent and Zaphod Beeblebrox from The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy as a nod to Douglas Adams.
• On the website "Who is Doctor Who", Arthur Dent says that the Ninth Doctor lay down in front of a bulldozer in front of his house, calling him 'rather odd'.
