The Megallan Empire were a spacefaring empire whose home planet was located in the Zeta Cancri system, in the Zeta Four Sector of Gallifrey's galaxy.
According to K9 Mark I, it was bent towards the sole purpose of domination, and its warriors were "feared more than death itself". Their leaders were Megallan High Command, headed by the Megallan warlord. They once swore to someday destroy the Time Lords. The Empire was destroyed when they initiated nuclear war against Telios; the Telians destroyed their home planet at the same instant that the Megallans destroyed Telios. Only the High Command survived by teleporting into one of the Megallans' famously impregnable prison ships, but they were followed by the surviving Telians and most of them (including the warlord) were also destroyed.
However, when he received Telian ambassador Dea's distress signal and entered the prison ship, K9 Mark I was able to help her find and tend to some wounded survivors of the Telian and Megallan sides, turning the ship into a hospital. Dea hoped to help rebuild their two species on a more peaceful basis. (PROSE: K9 and the Zeta Rescue)
