Satthralope was the Housekeeper of Lungbarrow from the age of three hundred and two until her death more than nine hundred and fifty years later.
Biography
Satthralope served no dinner for the cousins of the House who left on lushberrying trips into the summer woodlands. (PROSE: Cat's Cradle: Time's Crucible)
Satthralope was disappointed in the Doctor for his lack of ambition. (PROSE: Lungbarrow) She thought of him as a "wretched child" and a "disappointment to the House". (PROSE: Cat's Cradle: Time's Crucible) One of the Doctor's earliest memories was of Satthralope smacking him so hard that he could barely walk. (PROSE: Cold Fusion) She was the one who persuaded Quences to disown him.
When the Seventh Doctor came back she became angry at him for his adventuring and consorting with aliens and was annoyed she couldn't scare him. She enjoyed punishing him and let the drudges attack him after he refused to come to dinner. When he finally agreed to come, she called him a liar and childishly insulted him in front of his family and friends. The Doctor still tried to rescue her from the collapsing House, but she refused his help and was killed. (PROSE: Lungbarrow)
Personality
Satthralope was very strict and thought that the Doctor was spoilt. Her favourite was Glospin and she encouraged his hatred of the Doctor.
Satthralope went mad during her time trapped in Lungbarrow and refused to let anyone speak of murder in case she began to think that Quences was murdered (which he was). She convinced herself that everything was the Doctor's fault, as did Glospin, as whatever she knew, the House would know. (PROSE: Lungbarrow)
Behind the scenes
Ben Aaronovitch used to joke that Marc Platt's noisy bathroom extractor fan had inspired Satthralope. (REF: DWM 305)
