Boars were animals which were often caught for food on Earth. When she first met the Fifth Doctor and Peri Brown in Egypt in 1400 BC, Erimem invited them to sample some freshly-caught roast boar. Boars had become extinct in England, but were later reintroduced in 1987. This occurred during a massive storm in Kent, when a farm that raised boars was damaged and the boars were allowed to escape. Some of these boars came to the Doctor's house. They evolved into the intelligent Boar race. Brewster was a sentient boar who managed a 21st century hotel on an asteroid.
