Sergeant Markham was in [[Chiddleton]] dealing with [[Cooper (Black Orchid)|Cooper]], who had again been [[poaching]], at the time.


After Muir arrested the [[Fifth Doctor]] on suspicion of murder on [[11 June]] [[1925]], Markham was ordered to convey him to the station.

The TARDIS had been confiscated, however, and the Doctor was unable to prove this until they reached the police station where [[Cummings (Black Orchid)|Constable Cummings]] presented it to Markham. Sergeant Markham was a police officer in Oxfordshire during the 1920s.

Biography

Markham was a country-man (PROSE: Black Orchid [+]Loading...["Black Orchid (novelisation)"]) who was working as a police sergeant under Sir Robert Muir by the 1920s. (TV: Black Orchid [+]Loading...["Black Orchid (TV story)"]) On 11 June 1925, Sir Robert summoned him and Dr Hathaway to Cranleigh Hall following James's murder. Sergeant Markham was in Chiddleton dealing with Cooper, who had again been poaching, at the time.
