Dr Who Christmas Time Machine Game was a simple board game included on the back of the 1979 Doctor Who Candy Favourites chocolate set by Goodies. The chocolates themselves were depictions of the characters in the game, with the silhouettes on the cut-out gamepieces corresponding to them, although the edible figures themselves were too large to fit on the board and be used in the game itself. The box set was released in 1979.[1]

Summary

The Fourth Doctor in his TARDIS, a Cyberman, a Dalek, and K•9 race through an interplanetary landscape.

Gameplay

Cut out spinner and counters. Pierce hole in centre of spnner and inset used match to half way. See side of box for instructions.

INSTRUCTIONS: Place counters on start places.

Players take turns to spin. Whatever colour it lands on[nb 1], the player with that colour moves forward one or two places. If it lands on the colour of the player that has spun the disc, he moves and spins again;

Story notes

  • Although the presence of K•9 and the date of the story's release leave no doubt about the intended identity of the titular "Dr Who" as Tom Baker's Fourth Doctor, no physical depicting of the Doctor is given, with his game piece instead depicting the TARDIS.
