Andy Goddard is a BAFTA-nominated television director who has been active in British television since the late 1990s. One of his first assignments was on Stacy Stone, a program aimed at the same teenaged audience as The Sarah Jane Adventures. After spending most of 2001 on that program, he spent the next few years directing occasional episodes of Taggart, Casualty, The Bill, Twisted Tales and others. He began working on Torchwood in its first season, and has become one of its most-used directors. The plurality of the first two seasons of Torchwood have been directed by either Goddard or Ashley Way.
