The Sisters of the Infinite Schism was, according to the Eleventh Doctor, "the greatest hospital in the universe."
He, Amy and Rory took River Song to recuperate there, soon after River sacrificed her powers of regeneration for the Doctor. Because the version of River in the hospital was much younger than the one the trio had generally known, they decided to effectively abandon her at the Sisters of the Infinite Schism. From there, River would eventually go on to start her education in archaeology, (DW: Let's Kill Hitler) setting her on a path towards eventually rejoining the Eleventh Doctor and Amy for the crash of the Byzantium.
