  • When the Doctor and Amy are walking in Times Square, a billboard for the Tim Burton film Dark Shadows, starring Johnny Depp is visible.

Story notes

  • The title of the book River Song writes is The Angel's Kiss. An ebook version of the book will be released on 4 October 2012.[1][2]
  • The year the Doctor visits in ancient China, 221 BC, is a reference to Sherlock Holmes' address 221B Baker Street. Steven Moffat is also the writer of the television series Sherlock.
  • This is the first episode to feature River Song that is not a two-parter or is at least following a cameo appearence by River in the preivous episode.
