On 16 March, the following important behind-the-scenes events were known to have occurred:
- 2009 - A quarter-century after their use was phased out across the UK, Edinburgh's police department announced plans to reintroduce "TARDIS-style" police boxes.
- 2011 - Almost exactly a year after he indicated that he might possibly be recording a Big Finish audio drama, Big Finish Productions confirmed that Tom Baker would be portraying the Fourth Doctor in both the monthly series and lost stories, beginning in 2012.
