On 16 October, the following important behind-the-scenes events were known to have occurred:
- 1963 - Donald Baverstock ordered thirteen episodes of Doctor Who, after being satisfied with the promise of the so-called "pilot episode". At the same time he ordered John Mair to give him hard numbers about the cost of the series' special effects. When those numbers proved shockingly high just a few days later, a mini-crisis briefly threatened to shut down the show.
- 1964 - "The Waking Ally" was recorded at Riverside Studios 1. (INFO: The Daleks Invasion of Earth)
- 2009 - Recording for The Wreck of the Titan took place at The Moat Studios.
- 2012 - Recording for the fifth series of Gallifrey took place at The Moat Studios.
- 2018 - Recording for The Sixth Doctor and Peri: Volume One took place at the Moat Studios.
